Portrait Illustration

I started making clean, graphic images when I worked for Miami New Times newspaper. Printing on newsprint is not forgiving because of its porous nature and the inks tendency to spread easily. Photos can become blurry and colorful images can look muddy in dark areas. To create images that print well on newsprint, I developed an illustration style with clean lines, simplified shapes and bright color palettes. The result was an eye-catching, pop-art style.

Over the years, I’ve combined the style with my love of portraits. These illustrations are for the art lovers who welcome color into their home or businesses and organizations that aren’t afraid to be bold.
